If you’re like me who is always lutang and always sabaw, chances are, you end up leaving things at home even if you really need it that day. This can be a pain if you are trying to complete important documents that require time and effort.
I’m this person. Aside from my social anxiety, I suffer from SLT or “Severe Lutang Syndrome” or SSM “Sobrang Sabaw Moment”. It’s a good thing I found someone who steps up and takes care of things that need to be taken care of.
Recently, we went and renewed our NBI clearance and let me just take this moment to thank my partner Yanji for being a boyscout. I had one task, to make sure I won’t forget my postal ID because it is in my wallet. All the other requirements were taken care of by Yanji.
Tada! Guess what… I left my postal ID at home.
A major SMH 100x epic fail, right?
Good thing Yanji had my birth certificate and old NBI clearance copy in his folder, which was accepted. We were able to get our clearance without having to go back to the house to get my ID.
So let this blog be a guide for you. I’ll try to be as detailed as I can, list down all you need because it’s not nice if you have to go back home just because you forgot one step or something.
1. Schedule an appointment.
The first thing you have to do is to schedule an appointment online. Go to https://clearance.nbi.gov.ph. If i is your first time, register and create an account and then click apply for clearance and choose your desired time and date.
Once you have confirmed the date and time, you will fill up a form. Double check all the details before you submit.
2. Pay for the fee
Before submitting, you will be asked how you will pay. There are various payment methods that you can choose from. Choose a method that is convenient for you because you will only have 3 days to pay for it once you submit.
Take note of the fees that you have to pay like in BPI. You need to pay an extra P100 for service charge. If I’m not mistaken, we paid P155 each for ours.
3. Be there on time
Once you have settled your payment, just wait for your scheduled date and be there. Here are some things to remember BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE. Don’t be like me. Lol
-Printed copy of your application form.
-Printed screenshot or just your phone with the screenshot of your reference number. (It should clearly show that you are scheduled that day.)
-2 valid IDs
4. Fall in line
This is obvious, but even if you have a timeslot on your schedule, you still have to fall in line. While in the line, prepare your documents so you won’t have to fumble for your things when it’s your turn.
When we were there, the line was long. But before we reached the end of the line, a staff went to all the people in the line one by one. She made sure everyone in the line has an appointment and that they have the required documents.
You’ll be surprised at how many people still will fight the staff even if it is clear that they have to schedule and appointment first.
The staff will need to see your printed application form, screenshot, and two valid IDs. We were given red numbers after we got processed. Those who were scheduled yesterday or just walked in were given black numbers.
The NBI branch in Ali Mall accommodates 600 scheduled applicants per day. 300 in the morning and another 300 in the afternoon. For those who don’t have schedules, they will be accommodated once the 300 are done. Priority is for the ones who secured their schedules online.
5. Wait for your number to be called
For the internal line, they let people enter by 10. When we got our number, 150 was already inside. Ours was 168 and 169. We didn’t have to wait long, I think our wait did not even last longer than 15 minutes.
The process itself when you are already inside does not take long either. There are three stations that accommodate people. When you get called, you’ll be asked to check if the details in their system are correct.
Double check all the details, and the dates to avoid conflicts in your documents. Once you confirm, you will be asked to sit down so your photos can be taken, and then your fingerprints will be recorded, and you will be asked to sign. (Beware: if you tend to panic when in a hurry, expect this step to be a panic moment. After you confirm that the details are correct, the staff behind the station will turn into Flash and take your picture, your fingerprints, and ask for your signature faster than you can formulate a question and ask what is happening.)
After that, you will be asked to wait if you have a hit or not. Once you are cleared, you’ll be given a receipt that you will take to the releasing station which is just next to the other stations. In less than a minute, our NBI clearance was printed and we were done.
..and we’re done. All done in less than 3 minutes.
But, if you’re like me, an awkward person who always gets anxiety whenever I have to ask someone or if I don’t know what to do and expect, then I hope this serves as a guide to lessen that anxiety of yours.
We took Asti with us for the whole process. If you have no one to leave your child to, you can bring them with you. But brief them before you leave the house. Tell them it going to be boring and they have to behave. Bring toddler or kid books or toys that they can do while waiting.
Asti just sat in the waiting area and even fell in line with us at times.
So there you have it. For whatever reason you need an NBI clearance, good luck!
From a sabaw person to another, have a good day!
